The Bronx's FIRST EVER fully BIOPHILIC supportive senior housing center!

As we prepare to officially launch, we are extremely excited to announce our first, full scale project in the Tremont Section of the Bronx! (exact location here

The site was assembled over the past year by a dedicated team of brokers at the Highcap Group.
The developer, Foxy Management, hired us (Rooted Spaces) as consultants for this incredible development - and we couldn't be more thrilled about it!

Our client is very excited to bring a vision that's very near & dear to his heart - the first, fully Biophilic, supportive senior housing center to the Bronx to life (literally!) and we at Rooted Spaces are thrilled to share with you some of this property's proposed key elements & features.

These were designed with the following guidelines in mind;

Can we build a residences which will help the elderly with their cognitive abilities?

Can we incorporate building elements to promote physical mobility?

Can we include features relevant to less mobile residents?

YES, YES and YES!

The proposal includes a community rooftop garden, enabling gardens & greenhouse which will allow residents to participate in horticulture.

While most of our readers aren't strangers to the concepts of Greenhouses & Roof Gardens - Enabling Gardens are less common (unfortunately!) - these are specifically designed for the elderly, to help residents learn, exercise, get some fresh air and experience the joy and satisfaction of growing their own food! Planters are are designed to have easy access by wheelchair as well as by standing up - example below;

Other proposed features are air filtration systems and advanced lighting systems (more on those soon - please subscribe to our blog)

In addition to all these architectural features, we are also putting together a proposed program of events such as meditation or cooking that are planned to connect this new project with the immediate community surrounding it (including nearby schools or neighbors).

Our client hopes to break ground and start building at the end of 2018/early 2019 and will bring a nine story facility with 177 units(!!!) to this corner

We have brought a variety of biophillic ideas into the project which will likely be implemented once plans are finalized and are honored to work with this forward thinking developer on such a pioneering development!

Always great to work with a team that's  eager to see the positive impact on the residents and surrounding community!
